November 23rd, 2016: Dr. Rawa Nahhas, Assistant Professor in the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences at Canadian University Dubai (CUD), has been presented with the Academic Achievement Award for her paper on humanity and sustainability at the Global Conference on Business and Social Sciences, held recently in Dubai.
Dr. Nahhas’ paper entitled, ‘Invitation to Think: Technology and Sustainability – A Utopia Paradigm!’ explored human achievement and the actions that need to be taken to make sustainable development a reality, and not just a vision.
During her presentation, Dr. Nahhas discussed the needs to re-think the paradoxes that currently exist in humanity and develop new missions in our economic and social activities that can preserve both human beings and nature side-by-side.
She said, “Responsibility is an inevitable horizon of the future and we need to bridge the gap between the ‘knowledge sphere’ and the ‘meaning and value sphere’ to address important challenges in the context of increasing psychological, economic, historical, social and technological determinism.”
The Global Conference on Business and Social Sciences was organized by the Global Academy of Training & Research (GATR) in collaboration with a number of education and publishing partners. The fourth editions of the event, hosted in Dubai, sought to provide a platform for young researchers to present their research, to network within the international community and to seek the insight and advice of successful senior researchers. The conference awards recognized the contribution of academics to this goal and to the wider research community.
