•  1.3. The Faculty of Communication, Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in the Communication and Media Program, Journalism specialisation, to commence on 1st August 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.
  • Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Journalism or related field, with at least 1 year of post-doctoral teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level(s), and a strong record of, and interests in academic research and publication. A minimum of 5 years of full-time professional experience in journalism would definitely be a plus.
  • Applicants should also have proven effectiveness in transferring knowledge from professional practice to the teaching environment; publication of original and professional work (articles, commentaries, columns and editorials, investigative reports, news features, programmes, segments, scripts, reviews and analyses of critical issues) in books or popular media (newspapers, magazines, photo exhibits, radio, film, television and new media).
  • Professional journalists with an international reputation earned through news coverage and a track record of successful classroom teaching experience are preferred. Journalists with a minimum of 3 years teaching experience and a distinguished track record in the field or significant international experience such as reporters, editors, producers and/or senior managers are also encouraged to apply. The appointee will be required to teach courses; contribute actively to the Faculty’s media-related research; participate in curriculum development; advises students and take on administrative responsibilities.
