Canadian University Dubai Architecture students earn spot at international design competition

September 22, 2020: Faisal AlMahyawi and Somaya Abdul Muhsin from CUD's Bachelor of Architecture program earned one of the ten finalist spots for the School of Thought - School Redefines Learning competition in Toronto, Canada. They were awarded with People's Choice Award and  the project was shortlisted to be published by the editorial team as part of UNI’s Yearbook Series 3 (2020 – 2021).

The School of Thought - School Redefines Learning competition addresses the transition in curriculum from an academic-oriented only learning to an accessible learning space that supports variant learners in today's evolving society and education systems. The challenge is to design a high school where space itself promotes accessibility in education.

This project was produced during ARCH 331 Integrated Design studio course in CUD’s Architecture program and supervised by Serkan Gunay, from Faculty of Architecture and Interior Design in line with CUD’s plans to expose their studio classes to international projects.
