Canadian University Dubai extends hospitality sector collaborations with Ibis Styles MoU

July 11th, 2019: Canadian University Dubai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ibis Styles Hotels Jumeirah, building on its existing portfolio of corporate partnerships with the local hospitality sector.

Signed by Mr. Muhammad Mujtaba Haider, General Manager of Ibis Styles Hotels Jumeirah, and Mr. Hennie Ferreira, Chief Operating Officer of Canadian University Dubai, the agreement establishes a framework to promote hands-on, industry-based learning for students in the University’s Faculty of Management.

Initiated by Assistant Professor, Dr. Iva Bulatovic, under the leadership of Faculty Dean, Dr. Marc. Poulin, the partnership will create opportunities for students of the newly established major in Events and Tourism Management to fulfil the requirements of their program internship and prepare for employment within the sector.

The MoU also paves the way for joint corporate training initiatives to increase skills capacity in Dubai’s growing tourism sector, as well as short professional courses for students entering the industry. Beyond the curriculum, members the University’s Food Club are also set to benefit from professional masterclasses as part of the agreement.
