Canadian University Dubai Interior Design students earn spot at international design competition

September 22, 2020: CUD students Manal Alzantuti and Riam Franz from the Bachelor of Science in Interior Design earned one of the nine finalist spots at the Accor Design Awards 2020 ‘Reinterpret the Orient Express’. Both students were invited to attend the virtual workshops and award ceremony in Accor Hotels Paris headquarters.

The Accor Design Awards are open to students who can link their design ideas to Accor's strategy. Accor favours innovative and out-of-the-box ideas with this year's theme focused on social responsibility in design. The competition allows students to focus on a real-life case study and see their work evaluated by teachers and experts from the Group. The aim is to develop a network, challenge oneself, and exchange ideas with other people.

This project was produced during INDE 440 Senior Project studio course in CUD’s Interior Design program and supervised by Serkan Gunay, from Faculty of Architecture and Interior Design, in line with CUD’s plans to expose their studio classes to international projects.
