Canadian University Dubai in UAE and University of New Brunswick in Canada Establish a New Pathway to Canada

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, January 28th, 2023: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) and the University of New Brunswick (UNB) at New Brunswick, Fredericton campus (UNBF), Canada, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which opens a new pathway for Engineering students to transfer their studies from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Canada. 

The agreement provides the opportunity for eligible Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Software Design students to complete the final two years of their program at the New Brunswick based campus.

The MoU was formalized during a ceremony between the two institutions at the Canadian University Dubai on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, representing the University of New Brunswick, Dr. Paul Mazerolle, President and Vice-Chancellor; and representing the Canadian University Dubai, Mr. Buti Saeed Al Ghandi, Chancellor. 

Earlier an MoU was signed for Electrical Engineering to give eligible Electrical Engineering students the opportunity to complete the final three years of their program at the New Brunswick based campus. The agreement builds on long-standing ties between CUD and the University of New Brunswick to promote academic cooperation and student mobility. The new initiative has been developed to create transfer opportunities for CUD students in engineering disciplines.

Speaking about the collaboration, Dr. Sherif Moussa, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Applied Sciences and Technology, CUD said: “The partnership is an example of the strength of the cooperation between our universities, and furthermore, CUD’s commitment to providing a portal to Canadian education.  The students taking advantage of this opportunity can have the freedom to study in Canada, gain a global perspective through a transnational learning experience, and graduate with a highly valued degree in one of three disciplines that are among the most in-demand technology fields in the world today.”

The first transfer intake will commence this year with CUD students moving to Canada for the start of the 2023 academic year.
