July 7th, 2019: Canadian University Dubai and Copthorne Hotel Dubai, a member of the Millennium Hotels Group, have come together to boost the skills supply to the local hospitality sector with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will foster closer collaboration between the university and industry.
Signed by Mr. Glenn Nobbs, General Manager of Copthorne Hotel Dubai, and Mr. Hennie Ferreira, Chief Operating Officer of Canadian University Dubai, the MoU paves the way for students in the University’s Faculty of Management to secure professional internships in the city’s booming tourism sector.
The agreement follows the launch of the University’s Bachelor of Business Administration in Events and Tourism Management, which aims to build capacity in the hospitality industry to support Dubai’s growing international profile as a hub for leisure and business travel.
Initiated by Dr. Iva Bulatovic, Assistant Professor of Events and Tourism in the Faculty of Management, the MoU will facilitate joint workshops, seminars and conferences, as well as internships, job placements and longer-term career opportunities for Canadian University Dubai students.
Speaking about the new agreement, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management, Dr. Marc Poulin, said, “We are delighted to formalize our collaboration with the Copthorne Hotel Dubai and the world-renowned brand of Millennium Hotels Group. This agreement will offer our students unique experiential learning opportunities that will provide them with a competitive edge as they enter into this all-important sector of the Dubai economy.”
