November 27th, 2016: Students, faculty and staff of Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have come together in a celebration of the UAE’s culture and heritage to mark National Day 2016.
This year’s National Day marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the UAE and celebrates the nation’s peace and prosperity under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Following the playing of the UAE National Anthem, the proceeding went on to honour the cultural aspects of Emirati society with a poem recital, a children’s display of cultural heritage, and a video about the UAE’s history produced by CUD student especially for the occasion.
The event concluded with a celebration of the country’s traditional food and recreation. A display of photos and handicrafts sat alongside a customary Emirati buffet. Traditional games were played while ladies had the opportunity to explore henna styling and a tent displayed various aspects of Emirati culture and heritage.
