CUD Faculty Look Into Establishing Collaboration With Dtec Hub

March 7, 2018, Dubai Technology & Entrepreneur Centre: Delegates from the Faculty of Communication, Arts and Sciences visited the Dtec innovation hub for an event hosted by Daniel Silvestre Dos Reis, Senior Manager – Portfolio Dtec, and Leticia Cobas Escuris, Executive – Community Events Dtec.

The purpose of the visit was to explore how CUD and Dtec could collaborate in the future and exchange knowledge and talent with the common objective of fostering a culture of innovation in the UAE.

Innovation represents a priority for Canadian University Dubai which recently unveiled an exciting creative incubator in partnership with Ryerson University. The incubator will provide innovative, entrepreneurial and creative CUD students with guidance and mentorship to help them develop their business ideas, allowing CUD to become a catalyst for the establishment of an eco-system of student-funded startups.

Dtec is a technology, entrepreneurial and innovation hub based in Silicon Oasis and is home to hundreds of startups and SMEs from more than 60 countries. It provides an incubator service that offers entrepreneurs venture capital seed-stage funding along with a flexible program including mentoring, strategic business planning, and investor, legal and accounts support, all of which is tailored to individual business needs.

Collaborations of this nature are key to success and reflect CUD’s focus on the innovative teaching methods and opportunities that are needed to make the educational experience more enriching for both faculty and students.
