March 18, 2018, Red Theatre: Organized by the Faculty of Communication, Arts and Sciences, a workshop to improve academic writing skills was held for faculty, staff and students.
The two-hour “LET’S WRITE” workshop was led by Prof. David Santandreu Calonge, Dr. Efthymios Papatzikis and Mr. Said Baadel. The aim of the facilitators was to explain what is expected from an academic research article and help individuals polish their academic writing skills using an engaging mix of “shut up + write” and “Pecha Kucha” techniques.
This workshop was conducted on a highly participative basis and consisted of quick presentations and exercises in small teams to immediately apply concepts.
Writing skills are essential in academia and are highly valued by employers. As an academic professional, publishing research articles is crucial because scholarly output in peer-reviewed journals helps build an academic reputation at a personal and an institutional level.
