CUD Marks Earth Hour

April 7th, 2015: Students, faculty and staff at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have dimmed the lights on campus to make their own contribution to the 2015 Earth Hour campaign.

Led by the CUD student environmental club, the University community came together in lighting candles and glow sticks to join the international movement aimed at raising awareness about energy consumption and climate change.

Starting out as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, the campaign has since grown to engage more than 172 countries and territories worldwide.

Nada Hashish of the student environmental club, Green Key to Sustainability, said, “We have worked on a number of green projects since establishing the club, but this is a particularly important initiative as it gives the entire University community the opportunity to take part in an event with an strong environmental message.”
