December 5th, 2016: Students, faculty and staff at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have come together to mark UAE Commemoration Day 2016, the second annual day of recognition for those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
At 11.30am on November 30th, the University campus fell silent as a mark of respect to the Nation’s brave martyrs, as the CUD community joined in silent prayer to remember their sacrifice.
Following a minute’s silence, the UAE flag was raised up from half-mast, to celebrate the patriotism of the martyrs and their heroic actions in defense of the UAE Nation and its values.
Commemoration Day was first decreed in 2015 by His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to remember and honour those men and women who have given their lives for their country.
