November 14/15, 2017 Block D, CUD: Our Corporate Training Department ran a two day course on “International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS)”attended by 9 delegates who are senior officers from State Governments in Nigeria.
The course was run by CUD Professor Mohamed E. Ibrahim, PhD., Certified General Accountant-Canada (CGA)
Professor Ibrahim holds a PhD in Accounting and an MBA with a major in Accounting from the University of North Texas, USA. He also obtained a Master of Science in Accounting from Ain Shams University, Egypt.
Ibrahim’s research interests are in the role of accounting information in decision making, international accounting, auditing judgment, performance evaluation, heuristics and professional judgment.
This course was designed to provide accountants with in depth perspective and application of selected International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). The course covered standards related to recognition, measurement, reporting, and disclosure of assets, liabilities, equity; revenues, expenses, accounting policies, financial statement presentation, and other financial reporting issues of interest to the delegates.
The extent of coverage was set at advanced level in order to meet work requirements. Real-world examples and applications are used in connection with the coverage of each standard.
