CUD President Nominated for Prestigious Education Leadership Award

March 28th, 2016: President and Vice Chancellor of Canadian University Dubai, Pr. Karim Chelli, has been named among the nominees for the prestigious Asian Confederation of Business Golden Globe Tiger Awards, to be presented in Kuala Lumpur on April 11th.

Pr. Chelli has been recognized in the Education Leadership category of the 2016 edition of the Awards, which pay tribute to the ‘Tigers’ – those who believe that excellence is infinite and perfection has no limits – in the fields of marketing & branding, CSR & social innovation, and education.

The nomination comes following a global search for those individuals and organizations that set the benchmark in their contribution to society. According to Dr R. L. Bhatia, chief architect of the Awards, nominees are those who recognize that targets are mere milestones and not the end of the journey.

Dr. Bhatia said, “The Education Leadership Award at the Golden Globe Tigers is the most prestigious award and the highest honor which an individual can receive for his or her contribution.”

Among previous winners in the education category are Professor Sir David Greenaway, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham, UK; and Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha bt Kamaruddin, Rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia. At a corporate level, Dubai Customs authority, technology giant Samsung, and leading global provider of online corporate language training, Speexx, have all been honored with Tiger Awards.

Speaking about his nomination, Pr. Chelli said, “It is a privilege to be put forward for this prestigious Award and to be recognized among so many distinguished leaders who are renowned for their outstanding contribution to society.

“I am particularly honored to be considered for an Award that is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and innovation, as this is the embodiment of our mission at Canadian University Dubai; to provide an exemplary scholarly experience, guided by the highest standards in international education.”

The Awards will be presented at a special ceremony during the forthcoming Golden Globe Tigers Summit in Malaysia.
