CUD Professor’s Designs Feature in Two New Industry Publications

April 5th, 2016: A number of designs from the professional portfolio of Canadian University Dubai (CUD) Assistant Professor, Mr. Luca Donner, have been featured in two recent publications for the architectural design industry.

Five of his designs, developed in collaboration with CUD Adjunct Professor, Ms. Francesca Sorcinelli, were selected for publication in the book ‘New Panel Layout for Competition 4, 5, 6’, which showcases panel displays put together by architects to effectively present their work in competition.

Panel displays are an important medium by which architects communicate their design; they must convey a clear message about the fundamentals of the building, in a coherent and comprehensive style. Mr. Donner’s designs were published among a wide range of panel displays from international architects, who demonstrated visual impact in their presentation.

Among Mr. Donner’s work that featured in the book was the New National Museum of Afghanistan, a design that recently won him a place among the 100 Architects of the Year 2015, nominated by the Korean Institute of Architects. The book, produced by DAMDI Publishing Co., also featured Mr. Donner’s designs for two schools and a multifunctional centre in Italy, and a public library in South Korea.

Alongside the book publication, Mr. Donner has also seen his work feature in a recent edition of the 2A Architecture and Art Magazine. His unique Butterfly House, which was shortlisted among the finalists in the magazine’s Asia Architecture Awards, was included in a special edition featuring the finalist and winners of the 2015 Awards.
