CUD Professors’ Math Journal Achieves Global Recognition

November 17th, 2015: The Gulf Journal of Mathematics, established by Canadian University Dubai (CUD) professors, Dr. Firuz Kamalov and Dr. Ho Hon Leung, has achieved the ultimate recognition for a journal of its kind, having recently been listed in the indexing database of the American Mathematical Society (AMS).

As the most prestigious indexing database of math journals worldwide, the AMS listing marks a significant milestone for the publication, which became the UAE’s very first journal dedicated to mathematics, when it was created by Dr. Kamalov and Dr. Leung in 2011.

Having attracted submissions from across Europe as well as Asia and the Middle East, the journal was already indexed in the database of the European Mathematical Society. With its addition to the AMS database, it is now listed by the top two math indexes in the world.

Following the publication of its first volume in 2013, the journal quickly gathered momentum, and has matured into a well-respected, academically-rigorous resource, which now accepts around 25% of all submissions for publication. Earlier this year it was selected to publish the proceedings of an international conference on algebra and its applications.

Managing Editor, Dr. Firuz Kamalov said, “One of our aims in establishing this journal was to help put this region on the international research map and this recognition from the AMS will support our mission to promote the image of CUD as a reputable research institution in the Gulf.”
