November 16th – 18th and December 5th – 6th 2018: Students from UAE Society, Strategic Communication and Public Relations Management classes under the guidance of Rawa Nahhas, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication, Arts and Sciences attended the “World Tolerance Summit” (WTS 2018) and the Fifth Annual Knowledge Summit.
WTS 2018 is a program of the “International Institute for Tolerance,” part of H.H.Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Global Initiative in conjunction with UNESCO’s International Day for Tolerance. The summit focused on the creation and promotion of a culture of dialogue, peace, and tolerance in all tiers of society.
The Fifth edition of the Annual Knowledge Summit was held under the theme “Youth and the Future of the Knowledge Economy.” The event is held under the joint patronage of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of MBRF.
Speaking about the event, Dr. Nahhas said “Both events have successfully and reflected the true image and core values of the United Arab Emirates and Canadian University Dubai. As young people are the future, it is important to highlight their role in shaping the world's vision,” she added
Dr.Nahhas went on to say, “The purpose of CUD’s participation in such events is to enforce both values of tolerance and knowledge, since the power of knowledge produces wisdom which ultimately leads to Tolerance, and this is the essence of CUD teaching process”.
She concluded by saying ”We promote peace and happiness in society.”
