CUD Teams Up with Oxford University Press in Language Testing Research

October 22nd, 2015: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has teamed up with esteemed international publishers, Oxford University Press (OUP), on a research project that will influence the future of English language assessment in the region.

Building upon existing collaborations between the two organizations, CUD and OUP will work together on a practical study to examine the quality, relevance and effectiveness of English language testing products, before they are released into the market.

OUP is the world’s largest university press with the widest global presence, and has developed a vast catalogue of learning and testing resources for English language studies. As a longstanding provider of English for Academic Purposes programs, CUD was selected as a research partner to support the development of assessment materials targeted specifically at the Middle East market.

Ms. Rosily Jones, ELT Assessment Coordinator at OUP said, “We work with a variety of established and reliable institutions around the globe as pretesting research partners. Canadian University Dubai was recommended because of its technical facilities, regular interaction with students, and accurate placement of candidates against European benchmarks.”

CUD will join an international network of partners who are working with OUP to develop their future content. Mr. Steve Al Roubai, Coordinator of English for Academic Purposes programs at CUD, said, “It is a privilege for us to partner with one of the world’s leading academic publishers on research that will help to enhance English language studies in the region. We look forward to collaborating on this project and contributing to the development of high quality content that will benefit future English language students at CUD and beyond.”
