Canadian University Dubai (CUD) held its first-ever virtual orientation to welcome new students to the Fall 2020 semester. The virtual event, held on August 26, 2020, opened by Dr. Rami El Khatib, Associate Vice-President, Student Affairs, included information about how students can virtually engage with regular campus activities. Student Council executives introduced themselves and offered a summary of their role both as a team and individually. The IT department explained the technical aspect of online classes to ensure students could seamlessly access courses and other resources. The Learning Resource Centre presented how to access campus learning resources online, and the Student Affairs team explained their roles and services available to all students. Additional information included CUD's Transfer to Canada Specialist, Sid Attou, who offered transfer to Canada information. Students could ask questions about course registration, and they were briefed on the current COVID situation and the new campus safety guidelines. The virtual event ended with break out advising sessions where students could join for a more targeted Q & A about their program.
