Empowering Future Engineers through AI and Robotics: Hands-on Robbo Car Workshop at Besomi Academy

May 26, 2025, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE):In an era defined by rapid technological advancement, early exposure to artificial intelligence, robotics, and embedded systems is not just beneficial, it's essential. Demonstrating its commitment to preparing students for the future, the Mechatronics Engineering Department at Canadian University Dubai’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences recently partnered with Besomi Academy to deliver a hands-on workshop titled AI Robbo Car Using Raspberry Pi.

Designed to bridge theory with practical application, the workshop provided students with a unique opportunity to explore the integration of hardware and software in real-world AI systems. Participants engaged in the design and development of their own intelligent Robbo Cars, working with components such as the Raspberry Pi, DC motors, ultrasonic sensors, and camera modules.

On the software side, students applied Python, OpenCV, and AI algorithms to implement core functionalities, including object detection, line following, and autonomous navigation. Through this immersive learning experience, they gained valuable skills in programming, systems integration, and real-time problem-solving.

Each participant received a KHDA-accredited certificate — a recognized mark of quality and credibility in Dubai’s education and training landscape, offering added value to both academic and professional development.

Beyond technical knowledge, the workshop fostered critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. These skills are essential for future innovators in the fields of robotics and intelligent systems. This initiative reflects CUD’s mission to cultivate future-ready engineers equipped to lead in the evolving world of technology.
