October 23rd, 2018: Performing live at the Red Theatre was Ahmad Radaydeh’s innovative fusion band, “Sentimental Rage.” The band, which blends together both Western and Arabian style into an impressive instrumental and vocal performance, impressed our students, many of whom had never seen such techniques demonstrated before. Uniquely, their pieces blended oud, guitar, violin, opera, and so much more into a beautiful contemporary orchestra.
Canadian University Dubai worked closely with Sentimental Rage under the supervision of CUD Professor Efthymios Papatzikis, music psychology expert and Mr. Rivaan Timm Mager, Music Coordinator. This alliance facilitated an insightful workshop held at the university’s Music Room, where several members of the band gave tips and techniques to young aspiring artists among our students.
Joseph Williams, one of the band’s members from Seattle said “when I came to CUD, I immediately felt warmth, openness, and a sense of multi-national environment.” He went on to say that “the people were so friendly and casual that I felt so much at ease as I performed.”
After the event, students were able to purchase signed sentimental rage album which sold well due to the band leaving such a favorable impression on. Ultimately, their visit to CUD was a much needed motivational experience for all of our young aspiring artists.
