Interior Design Students Ace Their Internship Placements

April 17th, 2018: Hala Mohamed Abdulbaky and Naba’a Al Beer, fourth-year students in the Interior Design Department, have impressed their placement providers with their enthusiasm and knowledge.

Hala carried out voluntary work with “ARTDUBAI,” preparing the display of artwork from contemporary and modern artists. She joined ARTDUBAI’s production team to help hang the artwork and learned how to make the paper floral arrangements that were displayed throughout the gallery.

She was also involved in the Sheikha Manal Little Artists Program, held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of UAE Gender Balance Council, President of Dubai Women Establishment, and wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs UAE.

Hala felt this was an ideal introduction to teamwork under the direction of Hiromi Tango, one of the artists.

Naba’a was placed with “Brand Center,” an interior design company, and worked on a project to refurbish a large private villa. She arranged the furnishing schedule, prepared sample boards for each floor, sourced suppliers and ensured prompt delivery of samples for the client’s approval.

This was her first endeavour in a professional environment and she said she gained experience in working with suppliers and maintaining a schedule. As part of the placement, she will have the opportunity to meet the client and receive his feedback on the work carried out.
