Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021: Professor Marco Tavanti, Director of Nonprofit Administration Graduate Program at the University of San Francisco's School of Management, participated in the Faculty of Management’s Speaker Series as a Guest Speaker during Professor Agata Stachowicz-Stanusch’s MBA651 Organization Behavior class. The topic of discussion was Leadership in Pandemic Times: Past and Present Lessons for our Common Future.
Professor Marco Tavanti is also credited as the USF Program Director of the Master of Nonprofit Administration (MNA), past founding Chair of the International Public Service Graduate Program at DePaul University Chicago, President Emeritus of the World Engagement Institute as well as the current President/CEO of SDG. Services (a subsidiary of the Sustainable Capacity International Institute).
His professional experience spans across private, public, and social sectors and includes 30 years of leadership experience in academia and international sustainable development. He has coordinated humanitarian initiatives, academic cooperation, and research projects in numerous countries; Brazil, Mexico, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Philippines, Jordan, Italy, UK, and the USA.
During Professor Marco Tavanti’s lecture, CUD’s students learned valuable leadership lessons that emerged from past and current pandemics, including the 1348 Great Plague Pandemic and the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic.
His analytical review of diverse worldwide leadership responses to the COVID-19 pandemic brought further awareness to our responsibilities around prevention and resilience in line with future pandemics accelerated by climate change.
