October 30th, 2018, CUD Learning Resource Centre: Students gathered on the campus Library to witness the annual L.R.C. Awards Ceremony.
During the event, prizes and certificates of participation were distributed to the various students who entered the L.R.C.’s many competitions taking place throughout the month of October.
Winners included Nicholas Mendoza, who won first place in the Scrabble competition, by defeating Dalia Alqadhi. Aria Simone Williams took home the first prize for her Book Spine Poetry skills, followed by Aniss Samay Zemri. Twain Clyde Fernandez won the “Match your Major Shelfie & Shelfree” contest, with runner up Saule Muratova. Finally, Rabab Farooq took home first prize for her Book Review, followed by Shannaiah Aubrey Inocencio and Fatima Farazi.
Speaking at the event, CUD Alumnus Mr. Issam Kassabieh, Senior Financial Analyst at MENACorp, said “reading doesn’t just come from book. You can read almost anything, from a research paper, to a non-fiction novel, to even a picture.”
Dr Karim Chelli, President and Vice Chancellor of Canadian University Dubai was in attendance and spoke of his pride in the students and their continuous and diligent use of the library along with the University’s many other learning resources.
