November 3rd, 2015: Students from the School of Communication and Media Studies at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have been demonstrating their flair for photography at the glittering Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience held recently at The Dubai Mall.
The students were challenged to capture some exclusive images and write a unique news report on the event as part of their digital photography elective. Bringing together the who’s who of international fashion in a spectacular celebration of emerging designer talent, the show inspired creativity in both experienced and novice student photographers alike.
Advertisement major, Minchun Liu, said, “This assignment gave us a real insight into the world of professional photography, as we had to manage the shoot from start to finish, right from the initial setup in the Mall to producing the final images. I had no experience of this kind of event before, but it has certainly sparked my interest in pursuing photography and developing my creative skills.”
For Public Relations student Sunny Kiri Timothy, the shoot has helped to diversify his existing portfolio of work, which will soon be showcased through his own website. He said, “I have been involved in photography for some time, but this assignment presented a new and interesting challenge for me.”
The work of Minchun and Sunny, along with other participating students, Iman Fathi Dawod, Mayasa Aziz, and Shahd Amir Gamaleldin, can be viewed in the photo gallery.
