Students from Hong Kong Baptist University attend CUD’s summer school

June 10th, 2018: At a welcoming ceremony in the Red Theatre, Professor David Santandreu Calonge, Dean, Faculty of Communication, Arts and Sciences greeted a group of 35 students from the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) School of Communication.

The students from Hong Kong are attending a summer school program at CUD that is offered as part of a journey of culture, creativity and happiness to celebrate the Year of Zayed. During their visit, they will attend a series of marketing and communications classes taught by CUD academic staff.

Not only will they take classes, but they will also attend different cultural and heritage events as well as visit TV, radio and newspaper outlets that will give them an overall impression of the communications industry in the UAE.

As part of the program, the students will have to complete projects which will culminate with group and individual presentations at their graduation ceremony on 27 June.

The visit is part of an academic exchange agreement signed with HKBU in March. The Communication Department in HKBU is ranked 50th in the 2018 QS World University Rankings.

Speaking after the event, Professor David expressed the hope that this initiative would be the beginning of a long-lasting collaboration with HKBU and hoped that in the near future, students from CUD would travel to Hong Kong to enrich their academic experience. CUD’s summer school program will be expanded to include other disciplines and countries in 2019.
