CUD Presents the 7th Annual International Conference of the IASS

Wednesday, October 13, 2021: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) is bringing together the best minds and leading voices in technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data (BD), social sciences, arts, and humanities as the official host of the Annual International Academic Conference of the International Association for Silk-Road Studies (IASS) in partnership with the Silk-Road Universities Network (SUN).

The 7th Annual International Conference will take place from February 20-24, 2022, welcoming participants from 75+ international universities along the Silk Road to facilitate and deepen the conversation around the key theme of “The Role of Higher Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data: Challenges and Opportunities.”

Dr. David Santandreu Calonge, Associate Professor and Director, Corporate Training, Canadian University Dubai, said: “The SUN Conference IASS 2022 aims to bring together industry, leading academic scientists, government policymakers and Silk Road research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of AI and Big Data. This aligns with our vision as a global university to bring to the UAE unique insights and perspectives in learning, research, and application.”

Members of the academia and non-profit, public, and private sectors who are interested in the latest research and academic developments in the fields of AI, Big Data and Silk Road Studies are invited to participate. A call for paper submissions and panel proposals is currently underway, with applicants being encouraged to look beyond divisional and sub-disciplinary boundaries to bring their personal views from adjacent disciplines to the discussion. The deadline to apply has been extended to October 20, 2021, and those interested can submit their articles or panel proposals online via the official website.

Dr. David continued: “We are happy to welcome submissions across academic fields and from industries that reflect the conference topic areas and align with one of the conference’s theme tracks. Our thought-provoking panel sessions will open discussions beyond paper presentations, actively engaging the audience and bringing different viewpoints to the global stage.”

SUN was founded in 2015 by the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies to expand the academic and cultural relations between its member countries along the historic Silk Road, and to promote peaceful coexistence and collective prosperity amongst one another. The network plays a significant role in the economic development of Asian countries, with member countries such as Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Russia stepping further into promoting academic collaborations and cultural/economic exchanges.

Canadian University Dubai remains committed to providing students with an international academic experience, adding value to the personal and professional lives of its graduates, and the communities in which we serve. The SUN Conference will therefore present students with the unique opportunity to expand their scholarly network, enabling them to engage in academic conversation in an interdisciplinary context, beyond the classroom.
