CUD Strengthens Medical Pathways with GUS Visit, Connecting Public Health Students to North American Medical Schools

Global University Systems representatives guide Public Health students on transfer opportunities and medical school admissions.

February 24, 2025, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE): Canadian University Dubai (CUD) recently hosted representatives from Global University Systems (GUS) medical schools, providing CUD Public Health program students with the opportunity to explore potential pathways to continuing medical studies in North America. Through direct engagement with experts, students gained valuable insights into academic requirements, structured transfer options, and the next steps in their medical education journey.

During the event, students participated in discussions on eligibility criteria, scholarship opportunities, and the transition process to medical school. One-on-one meetings with representatives allowed eligible students to have their transcripts reviewed for tentative assessments, offering them early guidance on their potential acceptance into medical programs.

The visit follows a groundbreaking agreement between CUD and GUS announced in 2024. The agreement established a direct pathway for CUD Public Health program graduates to pursue medical studies at one of the three participating North American medical schools. This first-of-its-kind partnership in the UAE and MENA region was developed to create a seamless transition for students seeking medical careers, with scholarship opportunities ranging from $25,000 to $93,000 USD.

The agreement enables students to enter a structured four-year medical program that includes foundation studies, clinical rotations, and hospital-based training, ultimately preparing them for medical residencies in the United States or Canada. These institutions are recognized for their accreditation excellence, small class sizes, and hands-on experiential learning, ensuring students receive the highest quality education aligned with international medical standards.

This initiative aligns with CUD’s broader mission to develop career-focused academic programs that meet global standards. Further strengthening its commitment to healthcare education, CUD recently launched the Master of Public Health (MPH) program, offering students the opportunity to specialize in epidemiology, health policy, and health promotion. Designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to address complex health and environmental challenges, the MPH program provides a blend of classroom instruction and experiential learning.

The program also aligns with the UAE’s Vision 2030 by cultivating a highly skilled public health workforce and supporting the development of a world-class healthcare system. It also reflects global priorities, including the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

With the healthcare sector experiencing rapid growth, MPH graduates are well-positioned to take on leadership roles in public health, policy analysis, and disease prevention, both locally and internationally. Whether students are recent graduates or working professionals seeking career advancement, the program offers flexible learning options to accommodate diverse needs.
