Monday, May 31, 2021: Dr. Saida Harguem, Assistant Professor, Canadian University Dubai, participated in the Faculty of Management’s (FOM) research seminar series and presented her research paper entitled “A Conceptual Framework on IT Governance Impact on Organizational Performance: A Dynamic Capability Perspective” that was recently published in the Academic Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies, a Scopus indexed journal.
Dr. Harguem, who earned her Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Laval University, Canada, developed a comprehensive conceptual framework to explain better the impact of IT Governance (ITG) on organizational performance. The proposed conceptual framework analyses the ITG – Organizational Performance relationship through the lenses of the dynamic capability perspective. The proposed framework suggests that effective ITG mechanisms contribute to the development of a dynamic ITG competence, which in turn impacts the development of IT management capabilities and their evolution. Moreover, the proposed conceptual framework suggests that ITG is more likely to lead to better organizational performance when IT management capabilities are developed in line with business strategy.
Speaking about her recent paper, Dr. Harguem said: “In addition to its theoretical contributions, this research has managerial implications as well, as it highlights the importance of business and IT managers collaboration to implement ITG mechanisms that can enable effective IT management. ITG needs to be seen as a continuous process that should be monitored and evaluated regularly so that IT-related business value expectations could be realized and sustained over time”.
The Research Seminar Series was launched in 2014. These seminars are organized every month to provide a forum for researchers to share the outcomes of their current research agendas.
