March 20th, 2018: President of Ryerson University, Mr. Mohamed Lachemi, paid a visit to CUD to further consolidate our relationship with Ryerson for our new Bachelor of Arts in Creative Industries program.

Delegates from the Faculty of Communication, Arts and Sciences visited the Dtec innovation hub for an event hosted by Daniel Silvestre Dos Reis, Senior Manager – Portfolio Dtec, and Leticia Cobas Escuris, Executive – Community Events Dtec.

The CUD Robotics Club organized its second annual Robotics Competition with great success. The event was organized under the supervision of Dr. Sherif Moussa, Head of the Department of Engineering. A total of ten schools registered for the competition.

Organized by the Faculty of Communication, Arts and Sciences, a workshop to improve academic writing skills was held for faculty, staff and students.

As part of the (ENV 407) Management of Domestic and Hazardous Waste, students from the course visited Dubai Municipality’s Hazardous and Medical Waste Treatment Facility accompanied by Engr. Rashed Karkain.

Two professors from CUD’s Architecture Department, Dr. Maha Al-Bustani and Dr. Hazim Al-Nijaidi, were invited to be featured speakers at the Art Jameel Organization’s round-table discussion “Baghdad and Her Architects” at Al Serkal in Dubai on March 3rd.

Students from the Department of Environmental Health Sciences attended the 5th Ajman International Environment Conference.

CUD’s men’s football and volleyball teams both made it on the podium at the DMC Sports Day event, but missed the top spot. The teams brought home silver and bronze respectively, and valuable experience for next year. Eight teams took part in both sports.

Gary Boyer from Professional Traders Club was welcomed by students in the International Finance Fin 330 class. The guest speaker’s presentation focused on online trading, a relevant and evolving professional field that was of particular interest to his audience.

An audience of English language students attended a talk from best selling Canadian author Shari Lapena, who spoke about her books and her writing style.

Communication and Media students studying Journalism at Canadian University Dubai visited Dar Al Khaleej Press Printing and Publishing. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize students with the work environment in a newsroom and introduce them to professionals in the communications and media industry.

Dr. Joanna Seraphim, Assistant Professor, Department of Communication, Faculty of Communication, Arts and Sciences attended a symposium that focused on introducing, sharing and enhancing teaching techniques for classes in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the university level.

Canadian University Dubai students accompanied from the Department of Environmental Health Sciences accompanied by Dr. Ahmad Okasha, were invited by Dubai Health Authority to attend the Dubai International Health Tourism Forum.

As part of their ongoing musical programme, Dubai Orchestra performed a concert in the Red Theatre for a selected audience. CUD was proud to host this event and make our facilities available to ensure a fine performance.

Congratulations to our sports teams who were successful at the Dubai Inter-University Sports League launched in October 2017.

Dr. Anas Najdawi Associate Professor and Head of E-Business Department, Faculty of Management at Canadian University Dubai spoke about Digital Payments Technologies and trends in GCC. The interview was held in the light of the Saudi Arabia Monetary Authority (SAMA) preparing to launch two strategic initiatives through MADA relating to digital payment.
