Tuesday, April 20, 2021: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to students Razan Khawatmi (International Business), Sidra Fareed (Marketing), Simran Dsouza (Accounting and Finance), Hajer Ben Mnaouer (Mechatronics Engineering), and Adel Yousefi (Mechatronics Engineering), whose team “Social Clout” claimed the top honours in ProjectSet’s ICE-21 Innovation Challenge for Entrepreneurship 2021.

Wednesday, April 14, 2021: Through our established partnerships with a range of Canadian higher education institutions, students at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) can choose to transfer the credits they earn at CUD to complete their degree in Canada. We caught up with one of our students, Bhaanvi Rai, who recently made this decision. She completed her first year of university education in 2020 with the Faculty of Management, achieving 30 credits that were successfully transferred to her current Bachelor's degree program at the University of New Brunswick (UNBC).

Tuesday, April 13, 2021: The Faculty of Communication, Arts, and Sciences (FCAS) at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) hosted guest speaker, Dr. Timothy Coombs, in a webinar titled "Crisis Communication: Research, Main Concepts, and Case Studies." Some of the topics analyzed included; how global brands deal with a crisis and protect their reputation, how academic theories help agencies develop their strategies, and how brands should manage these situations internally.

Monday, April 12, 2021: The Faculty of Management hosted a webinar on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 entitled “When Individual and Organizational Resources Promote Well-Being and Performance at Work' featuring Annick Parent-Lamarche. The webinar focused on the role of individual and organizational resources that promote well-being and performance at work. Also presented were recent research results that fit into Dr. Parent-Lamarche's research program, as well as practical advice and implications.

Wednesday, March 17, 2021: At Canadian University Dubai (CUD), we offer a practice-based approach to learning. Our programs present students with unique opportunities to collaborate with senior faculty on applied research projects and explore both innovation and entrepreneurship.

Tuesday, March 9, 2021: CUD congratulates alumnus Abuzar Barakzai, who recently became Director of Detailed Design at the Ministry of Urban Development and Land in Afghanistan. He graduated from CUD with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2017.

Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021: In loving memory of Dr. Sawsan Saadi Halbouni, Associate Professor, Faculty of Management, CUD is honoured to share her most recent work before her passing, a chapter entitled “Application and Use of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Fraud detection and Avoidance” in the new book “Emerging Human and Techno Human Business Management Dynamics in a Globalized Environment.”

Monday, Feb. 8, 2021: The COVID-19 pandemic has presented an array of social and economic challenges that have had an unprecedented impact on public health, food systems, and the world of work. To shed some light on the actions the International Labour Organization (ILO) are taking to assist countries with their occupational health and safety measures, Dr. Manal Azzi recently spoke to our 4th year Canadian University Dubai (CUD) Environmental Health Management (EHM) students about the role of ILO in Occupational Health and Safety worldwide.

Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021: Priyanka De Noronha, Johnson & Johnson Canada, participated in the Faculty of Management’s Speaker Series as a guest speaker during Professor Davide Contu MBA643 Business Research Methods class. The topic of discussion was around the use of data for decision making.

October 12, 2020: Canadian University Dubai’s Faculty of Management’s Research Committee, chaired by Dr Agata Stachowicz–Stanusch, organized, on September 30, 2020, an online seminar titled Getting Published: Tales of success and failure.

Marie Madeleine Salmon (pictured), Head of Information Centre, Publicis, the third most important advertising group in the world, brought information to students about how global advertising groups need to implement a digital transformation - a collaboration initiated by Dr. Pablo Medina, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Communications, Arts, and Science, Canadian University Dubai.

Climate change poses major risks for Gulf countries, potentially affecting their food security, water processing, and public health to an alarming extent, in a region where temperatures are already critically high. These countries have been undergoing an exponential economic and population growth, accompanied by a sustained growth in Greenhouse Gas emissions. To curb climate change, besides switching towards an energy mix with less fossil fuels, it is urgent to foster low-carbon lifestyles amongst the residents: for instance, in terms of transportation and energy consumption.

Canadian University Dubai (CUD) held its first-ever virtual orientation to welcome new students to the Fall 2020 semester. The virtual event, held on August 26, 2020, opened by Dr. Rami El Khatib, Associate Vice-President, Student Affairs, included information about how students can virtually engage with regular campus activities.

A research paper by Dr. Firuz Kamalov, Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering, Applied Science Technology at Canadian University Dubai, in collaboration with Dmitry Denisov of Deloitte/Careem, on finding a solution to deal with imbalanced data using the Gamma distribution was published in the leading AI journal, Knowledge-Based Systems.

With immense sadness, we must share with you news of Dr. Rawa Nahhas’ passing on 24 September, 2020. For many years, she was a pillar in the Faculty of Communication, Arts and Science as an Assistant Professor, and she was a personal friend to many at Canadian University Dubai (CUD).

September 22, 2020: CUD students Manal Alzantuti and Riam Franz from the Bachelor of Science in Interior Design earned one of the nine finalist spots at the Accor Design Awards 2020 ‘Reinterpret the Orient Express’. Both students were invited to attend the virtual workshops and award ceremony in Accor Hotels Paris headquarters.

September 22, 2020: Faisal AlMahyawi and Somaya Abdul Muhsin from CUD's Bachelor of Architecture program earned one of the ten finalist spots for the School of Thought - School Redefines Learning competition in Toronto, Canada. They were awarded with People's Choice Award and the project was shortlisted to be published by the editorial team as part of UNI’s Yearbook Series 3 (2020 – 2021).

CUD’s expansion to City walk is underway! The CUD Information office opened at the new location on August 27, 2020. The office is open for information, registration, and document review from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm every day.

It is with immense sadness that we must share with you news of the recent death of Dr. Raymond P. Herbert, University Board member and personal friend to many at Canadian University Dubai (CUD).

July 2, 2020: Canada Day is Canada’s birthday, and this year, Canada turns 153 years old. Marked by the union of its provinces, Canada Day is celebrated formally as a historical milestone toward an independent nation and informally around the northern country as a kick-off to the summer season.

June 9, 2020: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) becomes the first CEPR-certified university in the MENA region after receiving the Certification in Education for Public Relations (CEPR) from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for its Bachelor of Arts in Communication – Public Relations major.

Mohammed Sabt, a recent Canadian University Dubai MBA graduate, currently employed by HSBC, was honoured by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, United Arab Emirates Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai as the Best Emirati Employee in the Private Sector.
